After a long discussion with friends, they told me: you should just go and buy a Fireblade. It's all you talk about and you always smile. So I did.
The next day, I went on https://www.mobile.de and did a search. There was one SP nearby, and it looked good. I was just about to buy it when I thought I ought to check country wide.
And that's where I saw my 2016 CBR1000RR SP in red, white and blue. My perfect bike. I phoned the dealer straight away, and bought it after a few questions.
Money sent, bike dispatched, and arrived to my surprise this week (I was expecting April).
I completed the registration on Tuesday and fitted the number plate on Wednesday. Where I found it didn't fit. I have nothing to compare with, but I guess the previous owner put on a smaller plate at the back. Anyway, I screwed it on as I wanted to go for a ride.
Just a Munich city ride to and from the office; nothing exciting. But it felt good. That smooth turbine like power delivery. Delicious. Though I only got up to about 80kph. I need to get used to the clutch.
And the seating position is... sporty. Yes, I'm getting old. Yes I am fat and need to lose weight. I guess I'll have to get used to it.
I checked the back of the bike in the garage. The rear lights and brakes are visible. The indicators are visible. They are bright and seem to be clearly visible from behind when on, so I hope I'm okay here. The rear reflector is hidden by the number plate. Doesn't bother me. Let's see what the Tuev say next year.
What would you recommend? Keep things as they are? Try and fit a smaller number plate? Or, no doubt the most expensive, get an original rear fitting from Honda, so the number plate fits properly? Hopefully a small issue and nothing to lose sleep over.
I shall wait for the next dry day and then take it / him / her out for a spin - can't wait.
